GDAD show

I went to GDAD show today, I saw lot of interesting artworks, designers and artists are from the different countries, such as Taiwan , Japan and China. I want to share one of my favorite artwork.

Her name is Meng Yun Chuang, We come from same country Taiwan. I found we have same hobby when I interviewed her. We both like to eat and cook. She said she was inspire bye Jamie Oliver from Ted Talk 'Teach every child about food'(2010).She started thinking about food education and how to pass on food culture. She decided to make website to share recipes, and named Fun food studio. her major is illustration, so she drew food by watercolor , and tried to use different materials to make illustration about food, such like black tea. Except illustration , She spent a lot of time to research about food photos. She wanted the pictures look delicious, so she tried to decorate. after she finished website.

I like her style and ideas. It not only used the website to share the recipes , but also promote food culture. I can't wait to see more about her art work.

TED Talk:Building the Seed Cathedral

I watched TED Talk:Building the Seed Cathedral by Thomas Heatherwick today. It was very brilliant lecture. He shared a lot of his artworks. I am not a big fan about architecture, but his creative ideas made me amazing. 

One of his famous artworks is The UK pavilion at Expo 2010. It was a sculpture structure built by a nine member conglomeration of British business and government resources directed by Thomas Heatherwick. His ideas combined the nature and technology to made the building. He used more than 60,000 slim and transparent acrylic rods to containing seeds of different plants. It also wanted to save the things you've got and make it better tomorrow.

It started to be popular about green building in the Taiwan recent years. Every one noticed that we only have one earth and global warning began to be more seriously. The government provided policies to improve the world, such as riding bike, taking public transportation, use packing of recycling, and building green houses, etc.

Design is a way to understand the world

My classmates and I went to Design Museum in London last Friday. I did some research on the internet.I found a popular designer from the UK.

His name is Jonathan Barnbrook and very famous designer.Barnbrook is good at designing CIS ,Font ,CD covers and Posters and also work for foreign companies, like Japan.I really like his artworks.It looks very colorful and strong and has very creative ideas.

Design Museum is not too big and close London bridge.I looked forward the exhibition ,because it made me thought of exhibition of graduation.I tried my best to do it, it was a unforgettable experience.

I arrived Design Museum.There are two exhibitions, one is Camper shoes's display, and another is Designs of the year 2015.they showed a lot of artworks, and included graphic design, Fashion,Architecture and Industry,etc.

I wanted to share  a sentence when i saw it in the museum.I thought that right.

Design is a way to understand the world.

And enjoy design!

Project 3

It was very special experience to me. It was the first time to join team work, and also worked with different countries people. Everything to me, It’s like the challenge.

Our group called 22.5, We are from Taiwan, China, Japan and Norway. At the beginning we chose the body language as topic, unfortunately rang of topic is too extensive, so we decided to change it. Our topic called “Project 7.2 Inside．Outside we are the same.” There are 7.2 billion people in the earth. The "7" represent the seven continents and the "2" express two people inside to communicate with each other. The seven part with the different size outside not only symbolize the real continents, but also represent the diverse cultures which people who are from different nationalities receive throughout their lives. When people go into the space inside alone, the surrounding environment in the room are dark and people can see nothing. But the light will be turned on if another people stand in another room and people can see each other in this moment.

In the project’s process, we had a lot of fun, such as had lunch and dinner in the outdoor, we prepared the food, and went to Margate to visit the museum , enjoy the beach and do presentation.

I think this project, I learned a lot from team work, such as time management, communicated ,etc. And thank you my partners, we tried to do our best for the project 3.

Project 7.2 - inside ‧ outside we are same

The interactive installation symbolizes the seven continents. The installation aims to raise the awareness of some of the global issues the contemporary society faces. We believe that original people is pure and undifferentiated, people be classification by educated, culture and political. But all of those conflicts in the world are due to these differences between ethnics and nations if people can realize what common we are, maybe people have more opportunities to face the global issues we have.

The viewpoint of people would move from global issues to personal problems by entering the inside structure and looking at their own figures on the dark glass wall. Accordingly, they would realize that they come to the starting point of those global issues and think the meanings. Moreover, they would notice the existence of others and the awareness would lead to the re-recognition of oneself, others and its relationships, and also lead to a new understanding of the meaning of this word. We are convinced that this interactive installation would bring an important rule to people for reviewing modern society with impact and give opportunities to change the consciousness.

In this project, we would like to choose the individual as main theme, and land in the earth is the source of the ideal. We aim to do this by connecting global issues between personal communications from different places and waving this together with installation‘7.2’. The proposal will be given due consideration to think about that human’s life is influenced by various factors, putting away these things to deeply discover the depth of our individual is the same with each other. Finally, we expect ‘7.2’ would affect viewers.

IFAD Show

I went to IFAD Show today, artists and designers are very young approximately 18 years old and from the different countries. They displayed a lot of brilliant artworks in the exhibition.

I want to share one of designer’s artwork. Her name is Verdiana Pagnano from the Italy. She is a 19 years old designer. Verdiana’s art work is a short animation about 2 minutes, and named “ The dream of Ghiberti’s door”. She used many materials, there are black , gold paper and cardboard, chose the story from Holy Bible, They expressed the famous door called “The Gates of Paradise” located in the Florence, Italy, her hometown, she also want to share her culture and where is she from. She chose black and gold color, because it's like the door and easy to connect between the materials and the real doors. I asked her about the project,” which part is difficult?” She answered me “skill of animation and music “.She just finished Art and Design course about 1 year, didn’t learn a lot of skill and knowledge about animation, but she wanted to challenged herself to know the limit. Another part was music, she tried to find the many music, like old Greek music, It seemed perfect for her video ,but the animation is quite fast, afterwards she found a good music for video.

I felt a lot about her passion for the animation, made me thought about when I went to art school the first day, I was curious for everything about art.vShe is an excellent designer, tried her best to finish animation. I hope to see more artworks about her.

Art review II about Lynn Hershman Leeson+Impressionism

I did research about museum and artists before the trip, I was very interested at Modern Art Oxford museum. Lynne Hershman Leeson has a solo exhibition, and named Origins of the Species(Part 2)(Figure 1). She was born at the Ohio in 1941. Lynne is not only a multi-talented artist, but also a film maker and focusing on the documentary films, lives and works between San Francisco, California and New York. Her art works includes paintings, flims,  sculptures, photos, videos. She also has been an early practitioner of installation and interactive art , focused on the changing relationship between the body and technology.

I discussed Lynne’s artworks in the class with my classmates. Fist,I noticed the artork was name Breathing Machine IV in 1968. There are butterflies, feathers, face and black yarn. butterflies looks like strong vitality .The black yarn represents breathing machines. They symbolizes to combine life and death and never separate. I was surprised when I saw the real one. I saw it on the screen before I went to the museum, it didn’t have any voice, but I approached the artwork, It heard very strong voice of breathing, I felt horrible actuality and made me feel death close me very much.

Phantom Limb series is one of Lynne’s artworks.She used female identity into the media and technologies. Her artwork wanted to discuss female images in the mass media and ultimately changed the our mental projection of identity. Except her artworks, she also focused on the films . Leeson's three feature films are Strange Culture, Teknolust, Conceiving and  all about loss and technology. She released an astonishing documentary and gained a lot awards from the Toronto and Berlin movie festivals.

There are many cultural exhibitions in the Ashmolean Museum. Specifically Japanese painting culture exhibition made me a deeper impression. Ukiyo-e is one of Painting in Japan, it began popular between seventeenth to nineteenth century, and described life, views and dramas. They had different style from kano school and tosa School. Kano school is very great in the art history of Japan. My classmate shared a important knowledge to me about ukiyo-e. There didn't draw artworks, but they used to printed colorful woodcuts.

 In the Ashmolean museum, the exhibition of Hiroshi Yoshida’s artworks. He was a 20th-century Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker. Yoshida was influenced arts by his foster father in the early age. He trained in western oil painting ,often used the same blocks and varied the color to suggest different moods. Yoshida visited numbers of countries extensively, and observed many details afterwards he combined a new culture in his artworks. He depicted scenes as a series of prints from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Singapore was published in 1931. Yoshida ‘s artworks brought a new style to traditional Japanese woodblock. Ykiyo-e also influenced Impressionism(Post-Impressionism,Belinda Thomson,1998,P.23)

Another interesting part in Ashmolean Museum is Impressionism's exhibition.I read many books about art history, they explained impressionism in the France, but they are less to talk about other impressionism in the United Kingdom. Fortunately I saw a lot of details in the exhibition.

Spencer Frederick Gore (Figure2) (BBC Your Paintings,ABOUT THIS ARTIST) was a British artist and born in 1878.He was good at drawing landscapes, and using natural brushes with full-toned colors in his artworks. Spencer founded a Camden Town Group in 1911,and he also was the first member. Robert Polhill Bevan  (BBC Your Paintings,ABOUT THIS ARTIST) and Malcolm Drummond(BBC Your Paintings,ABOUT THIS ARTIST)  are also members in Camden Town Group. Robert was painter and lithographer. His work was much influenced by Gauguin and used flat patterning and bold colors. His style became increasingly simplified and schematic in the last years(Figure3). Robert was good at painting featuring horses. Malcolm Drummond was another member in Camden Town Group and created London Group. He was an English painter and born at Boyne Hill, Berkshire. His style included simple forms , vast colors and expert in urban scenes and interiors. The Post-Impressionists and Walter Sickert influenced him.

Eugène Louis Boudin(BBC Your Paintings,ABOUT THIS ARTIST) was a French landscape painter and born in 1824, grew up in the sailor ‘s family.His father was a navigator and influenced in Boudon’s life a lot. Boudin was into views from the western coasts in the France. He had a marvelous ability, such as exact observation and recorder of nature. Boudin captured gestures, movements and costumes accurately from his individual views. His style made me feel like graceful and quick. Boudin was called "king of the skies" and also like Claude Monet's tutor. He encouraged young Monet painted outdoors.

Oxford is a very classical city and the answer is like my friend said” fall in love with it when you visit it.I have stayed at United Kingdom until 4 weeks. I still lose myself and try to find a new direction, not only improve my career, but also create a better future.

Project 2-How to lose yourself

I Saw the Project2 “how to lost youself” at the moment and made me think of a big decision before I went to the United Kingdom.In fact I had a great job,and worked as  a designer about four years.My boss gave me good salaries and excellent benefit.I did similar work almost every day and felt bored,so I think about to find a new direction,then I quit my job and made plan to study Graphic design Master at University for Creative of Art.I tried my best to got an offer from the university on April and started to looked for myself in a new journey.This was the first time to took airplane to United Kingdom by myself.I was very nervious and afraid of that unable to handling any problems,because I concerned about english skills. Fortunately I arrived to London and went to accommodation to began my course.

Illustrator:Peter Kuper

I wanted to share the lecture today,it talked about “Finding way to lose youself”.I choose Peter Kuper. He is a very admirable illustrator from United States.He was born at New Jersey and moved to New York when he studied in the Pratt Institute.Peter also worked as a assistant of cartoonist.

Peter’s topics included political, comments of society and life stories. Especially an autobiography is one of famous artwork. Kuper used strong colors,simple lines,and clear shapes in his artworks. Particularly roles looked very energetic and theatrical.He founded World war 3 Illustrated in 1979 with his partners. Kuper is currently best known for taking over Spy vs. Spy for Mad magazine.He has produced numerous graphic novels which have been translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish and Greek.

Kuper's wife,daughter and he resided in the Mexican state of Oaxaca 2006–2008. He documented Mexico in his sketchbook journal. Diario de Oaxaca is an amzing place and a warm sunny with 16th century architecture. It happened a huge teachers' strike, people killed and a military presence during the first six months when his stayed.Kuper aslo left to drew details of life in Mexico.

Walking,day trip and long trip are the best way to lose youself.In the journey I will go to different places ,create new memories and get experience.It make me feel relax and think clearly,also like take risks,leave comfortable zones to discover unknown  self.Don’t be afraid,You will find something value in the journey.

Japanese artist Hiroshi Yoshida

 My classmates and I went to Oxford last Friday.We went to three museums.It was very brilliant trip.I wanted to share Japanese culture exhibition at Ashmolean Museum.

 Before I introduced a Japanese Artist,my classmate told me a knowledge about painting.I was surprised. Ukiyo-e is one of famous art in japan.They used skills of woodblock to print colorful.Their topic included drama,life style and views.They had different style from kano school and とさは. Kano school is very huge in the art history of japan.

Hiroshi Yoshida’s artworks exhibits in the Ashmolean museum. He was a 20th-century Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker. Yoshida trained in western oil painting ,often used the same blocks and varied the color to suggest different moods..He visited many countries and conbined a new culture in his artworks.

Ukiyo-e influenced Impressionism a lot,such as colors and style,I believe that it is very important to Western countries.

Art School Confidential

I watched a trailer before movie.I felt very fun and like comedy after I watched and felt bored and bad. 

Jerome want to be a famous artist like Picasso and also good at drawimg.He brought a perfect dream and be a freshman in college smoothly.Jerome always tried his best to finish artwork,unfortunately he didn’t get any appreciation from professor.In the same time he began to love Audrey and felt lost.

I was touching very much at beginning,because he never gave up to be a artist.He started to lost himself when he achieved the goal.Afterwards he used to wrong way to made him famous and also broke rules.I felt a little bite crazy at the moment.It provided a ridiculous answer.Arts were made to d decision by the famous people.Someone was pupolar,other ones changed their mind immediately to agree him.Is real Art?How do you think?

MOMA Oxford :Lynn Hershman Leeson

I discussed Lynn Hershman Leeson artwork with my classmates in the class today.She is a creative artist.Her produtions include arts , films and also focus on the changing relationship between the body and technology.Now she has an exhibition in MOMA Oxford.

This artwork named Breathing Machine IV in 1968.There are butterflies,feathers,face and black yarn.butterflies looks like strong vitality .The black yarn represents breathing machines.They symbolizes to combine life and death and never separate.

This artwork is a series like Roberta Breitmore series.She used black color as background.The woman worry about something and feel anxious.The artist doubted issues about agibts,debts and death.She didn’t believe that train of diseased and self image greed in the contemporary America’s culture.

I will go to MOMA Oxford on Friday and really look forward to see the exhibition.If you couldn’t wait,you can watch it on website.

Hello!UK

I have started my life in the United Kingdom since June 20 2015.I took a plane to London and someone picked me up to University for the Creative of art.I got a key and moved into Student Village.I was looking forward the class tomorrow.

I went to 3 cities during the two weeks.They are FarnHarm,Guilford and London.It was very good memery to me.I live in Farnharm.It looks like a smooth town.they have a music festival every sundy.It wase also I joined a foreign concert first time.I enjoyed music,coke ,sunshine and made me relax.

One of my course is called “Treasure Hunt” ,I went to Guildford and stayed about 4 hours.The view is more fashion than Farnharm and some place like new Taipei county in my home.Yeah!I had a little bite homesick.I finished tasks after I stayed at white hous.

London is one of my favorite city.i visit there with my classmates on June 26.I went to V&A Musen,Hyde park and kensington gardens.I saw many awesome productions,like David,fashion clothes and Alexander McQueen in the musen.Hyde park is a very large place.Birds and ducks were not afraid people.I really like here .I wish I can spend more time to stay and I believe that I will come back soon.

I still feel everything great and excite next adventure until now.
